Do you know what Uzbeks eat lots of?
You'd call it "pilaf," i.e. rice with mutton, carrots, chick peas and garlic. And they, too, have a specific name for it a bit similar to "pilaf"; however, since it's their national dish they eat so much of, most often they simply refer to it with a term that means food in general—OSH. (An "oshhona" is a dining room or a café).
